He threw his head back and howled, veins standing out of his neck and on his forehead." This is an example of the kind of torture Annie tried on Paul. She did all of this just to make him wrie a new misery book. But everytime he does something wrong or refuses to do something she punishes him for being bad. It varies at time sometimes she won't feed him or give him painkillers for his shattered legs. It all depends on how she is feeling that day. This section of the book reminded me of the movie Taken the main character talkes about torturing peple for information, withought even knowing if they knew about what they where talking about.
